Life Insurance

Whether you’re an empty-nester or a new parent have you considered a life insurance policy?

Whether you have a desk job or a job in the Florida heat, the value of a life insurance policy can be invaluable to your family should you have an untimely death. There are several type of policies to consider based on your goals including:

1) Term life insurance – provides coverage for a specified period of time

2) Cash value term life insurance – this type of policy builds cash value

3) Whole life insurance – this type of policy offers life long protection

Depending on your financial picture you may elect one plan over another. Some couples will purchase a term life insurance plan that will mature when they reach a certain age while others will maintain their policy for their lifetime. There is no right or wrong answer for which type of plan is the best.

A life insurance policy can pay for outstanding expenses such as credit card debt, car loans, mortgage and funeral expenses. A life insurance policy takes the financial burden off your loved ones. Renters Insurance and College Students

What Does Renters Insurance and College Students Have In Common?

If you have a college student heading off to school this information is for you…

Is your student living on campus or off campus this coming school year? You may consider renters insurance if your child is going to be living off campus. A renters insurance policy covers your child’s personal property. When you rent a home or apartment the landlord is responsible for insuring the property against damage caused by fire or other disasters.

There are options when it comes to renters insurance the standard coverage typically covers the following:
1) personal property protection – furniture, electronics, clothing
2) reimbursed living expenses – if your home is un-habitable this coverage will help you with food and a temporary place to live
3) liability protection – protects you in the event somebody sues you after visiting your dwelling that you are renting
4) guest medical protection – protects you from medical expenses one may incur should they become injured at your rental home

We highly encourage all parents with students who are living off campus this school year to talk with us about a renters insurance policy. They are very affordable and the protection is valuable. Even if your child is not likely to have a party or invite people over to his/her apartment it is highly recommended that you carry at least a minimal renters insurance policy.

Before your child heads off to school for this year be sure to inventory all that they are taking with them in the event of theft or destruction. Take photos, video or make a list of electronics. clothing and appliances they make be taking with them. It will save you time and aggravation in the event something happens and you need to place a claim.
